Town of Garnish testimonials
May 2021
Thank-you to the town of Garnish for Honouring those soldiers who lived in the town of Garnish. Who are presently serving or retired from the Canadian Armed Forces, and served overseas in Afganistan. It was a nice gesture and kind thaughts. It was warm to my heart. Once again Thank you for those kind thaughts.

We saw more of Garnish and the Burin Peninsula than we had seen 41 years ago. I loved our walks at Winterland Trail, Frenchman's Cove, the trail we walked in Marystown, Salts Pond, and the beach outside of Garnish where you walked my legs off! We enjoyed every conversation and had some good laughs.

Thank you Garnish for the warm welcome you give the out of town boys working in your beautiful town. The one thing I miss most of all about Garnish are the people.

Mayors Message

On behalf of myself, my fellow Councilors and the residents of the Town of Garnish, I would like to warmly welcome you to our beautiful community. Since 2022 is Come Home Year we decided to launch a new website. As well as develope brochures, available for both download and located at various Information and Toursim Centres.

Since we launched our website some 15 years ago many people have left and many have returned. The COVID pandemic of 2020 brought with it numerous challenges. However, it also opened the door to new ways of thinking about how we live and work. Quality of life and the safety offered by Rural Newfoundland is just not for the occassional travellor anymore, but for people that may want to settle here.

The Town of Garnish is stragegically located on the Burin Peninsula next to a major hub. Over the last 10 years numerous business and tourism intiatives have been developed. A renewed focus point for Garnish and the purpose of this website is to outline opportunities for both business and pleasure. Introduce travellors to what both Garnish as well as the local area offers.

Garnish is famous for many thing, Bakeapples, sunsets, and it's boat building history. However, as other nearby points have developed so has opportunities. Modern communications technology have allowed Garnish to re-imagine itself as a home as well as vacation destination.

We are very proud of our town and all that it has to offer. If you would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be pleased to help you.

Sincerely,

Jessie Anne Marsh
